About

The Paint'd Garden Location

As an Interior Designer with over 35 years experience,

I specialize in Color Consultations, Custom Draperies, Window Treatments, Blinds, Space-Planning, New Home Finishes, and Custom Floral Designs.

The last several years, I’ve developed a passion for revitalizing vintage furniture. The Paint’d Garden was created out of my obsession for creativity and total devotion to restoring, renovating and revamping vintage furniture, using colors, dimension and texture.

While my love of Interior Design continues, I now have another way of bringing color and interest into a client’s home, either by renewing an existing piece they own, or by adding a piece that I take from my own inventory of vintage pieces.

I source, repair, and renovate furniture and interior accent pieces, in a serene and quaint spot along 7th Street, overlooking Clear Creek, in Historic Shelbyville, Kentucky.

You will find The Paint’d Garden, where I sell Dixie Belle Paint, "Do It Yourself" products, and will soon be offering classes on painting and sharing my love for creativity!

Our Values

Hello, I’m Debbie D’Angelo. I’m an Interior Designer, Floral Designer and a Furniture Artist.

I’ve found balance between work and life, now I’m a totally happy person, loving wife, mother and grandma, but it didn’t come effortlessly. I've gone through many difficult situations but came out a winner, with newfound knowledge that I was able to utilize in future settings.

This furthered my imagination.

In March 1989, I graduated with an Associate Degree in Interior Design in Louisville, Kentucky. It was a proud moment and a huge accomplishment for me, after me being a very young wife and mother in the early 1970’s. I was determined to follow my childhood dream of becoming an Interior Designer. Once enrolled in classes, I excelled and was able to graduate with top honors.

I found early success as owner of Designer’s Image, an Interior Design and Custom Drapery business I launched a few years after graduating. It was a “Shop-at-Home” business that I opened in the Novi, Michigan area, after moving there following my marriage to Len, my amazing and very supportive husband.

I appreciated the challenge of building a successful business that I literally operated out of the back of my car. There I had bins stocked full of fabric and wallpaper books, carpet and paint samples. It was at the beginning of the Shop-at-Home craze and word of mouth regarding my design abilities spread quickly. It was so much fun, and I loved every minute of it!

When my husband was approaching retirement, I yearned to be back home to enjoy my now grown children and their families. So now life has brought me full circle, and my husband and I call the Louisville/Shelbyville, Kentucky area our home.

...Sharing my love for creativity!
